IDB Invest approved financing of up to US$50M for Los Portales to drive the construction of formal housing and the development of urbanization projects aimed mainly at middle- and low-income families in Lima and various regions of Peru, where housing demand far exceeds existing supply. This financing will be distributed between Los Portales S.A., which focuses on urban land development and lot sales, and Los Portales Departamentos S.A.C., which focuses on green-certified buildings and social housing projects, thereby reinforcing the group's capacity to meet housing needs in a sustainable way.
The operation incorporates a flexible structure designed to adapt to the group's different stages and business models. Among its components is a US$30M revolving working capital line, considered the first that IDB Invest has granted to the Peruvian real estate sector in this form. This financial tool will allow Los Portales to manage its projects more efficiently, improve resource planning and have secured liquidity throughout development cycles, contributing to a more agile and stable execution of its initiatives.
In addition to financing, IDB Invest will provide specialized technical advice aimed at strengthening the environmental and social management of the projects, fostering community cohesion and safety, and promoting urban environments that ensure safer conditions. This support is part of the institution's comprehensive approach, which combines financial backing with technical assistance to maximize the economic, social and environmental impact of its operations.
IDB Invest, as a multilateral development bank focused on the private sector in Latin America and the Caribbean, seeks to promote sustainable projects that deliver tangible benefits to communities and encourage responsible growth. For its part, Los Portales, a company with Peruvian and Mexican capital, operates in urban land development, social housing, apartments and hotels, reaffirming its commitment to developing formal, accessible housing solutions for Peruvian families.
